I just read an interesting article that was published by ABC News concerning the recent bankruptcy filing of Delta and Northwest Airlines; the third and fourth largest airlines in the US. The article, “What Will Delta, Northwest Bankrupties Mean for Passengers?” talks about “business as usual” with both airlines honoring their tickets and frequent flier programs. But the article also predicts other problems looming on the horizon because of increased fuel costs and how they will continue to strain airline resources.
Just some more reasons to buy travel insurance to help protect your travel investment. Many of the current travel plans will provide “default” coverage on airlines that are in bankruptcy. In order to qualify you must buy your insurance within the required time period and it must be with one of the insurance companies that still accepts risks on airlines that are operating under the protection of the bankruptcy courts.
