New from the Texas Department of Insurance a press release that states that they have issued Trip Assured of Tennessee a cease and desist order to stop selling travel insurance to residents of Texas. It appears from the order that Trip Assured has been selling insurance in Texas without the benefit of a license. Personally I’m surprised that anyone would have purchased insurance from Trip Assured. If you’ve ever visited their web site you’ll know that they provide almost no information about the terms and conditions of the policy they are selling or who is the underwriting company. Those are basic items that any reliable travel insurance web site should provide not only to comply with basic advertising regulations but because it’s the right thing to do.
