From time to time the question comes up about flight delays that cause a traveler to miss a cruise departure. Many travelers that I’ve spoken to have indicated to me that if they book their flight through the cruise line that the cruise line will take care of them.
Unfortunately, that appears to be wrong. I just read advice that Chris Elliott, a well known travel consumer advocate, gave to a traveler who had missed their cruise because of a series of delays. He points out that the cruise line (Carnival’s) fine print says:
“We assume no liability for any acts or omissions of any airline, including, without limitation, those involving cancellation of flights, schedule changes, re-routings, damage to or delay or loss of baggage, flight delays, equipment failures, accidents, pilot or other staff shortages, overbooking or computer errors,”
I too have no idea why you would want to book your flight with the cruise line.
