Terrorism

Is defined by each company. It usually means an act of violence that results in loss of life or major damage to property by a person or persons that are acting on behalf of an organization which has the intent to overthrow or influence the control of a government. Usually the event must be recognized by the US Department of State as being an incident of terrorism. 

Coverage for an incident of terrorism may be found in a couple of areas of the policy:

• medical coverage if injured;
• medical evacuation if the injury is so severe that an evacuation is required;
• trip cancellation or interruption if it meets policy requirements (occur in a city on your itinerary) will only allow cancellation if the act of terrorism occurs within a specified amount of time (anywhere from 7 to 30 days) of your departure date,
• baggage for loss or damage caused by the incidence of terror.

Be sure to read the policy as some plans may restrict coverage only to the trip cancellation and interruption coverages.
